Seletar
Seletar

Located in the northeastern part of Singapore, Seletar Reservoir is a popular venue for water sports such as sailing and fishing, while the Lower Seletar Reservoir Park is a pleasant spot for leisurely walks. The park is largely flat with some undulating terrain that provides a pleasant place for strolling, jogging and bird watching. In the past, Upper Seletar Reservoir Park was regularly frequented by the Hash Harriers (an international drinking and running club) and horse riders. Today, however, the only ones horsing around here are joggers, walkers, anglers and young couples.

Sembawang
Sembawang

Located in northern Singapore, Sembawang is on the coast of the Johor Straits and faces Malaysia. The district encompasses part of Yishun and part of Seletar, thus holding characteristics of both. It is in part a residential area like Yishun, and an old army area like Seletar. Sembawang is out of the way for most Singaporeans, and therefore remains quiet and sleepy. A large park located near Seletar Reservoir, Sembawang Park is where residents of the district go on the weekends. The Sembawang Hot Spring is the Singapore mainland's only hot spring.

Toa Payoh
Toa Payoh

Toa Payoh New Town was built in 1970 and is the republic's second satellite town after Queenstown. It is another residential area where you can get almost everything in this area from your shopping to recreational needs. Toa Payoh is one of the most populated public housing estates in Singapoare and is the closest estate to the city. There are many factories here and rental prices here are very competitive though the units are old.

Yishun
Yishun

Then a dense jungle, it was giving way to pepper and gambier estates. By close of the 19th Centruy, these were being supplanted by pineapple and rubber estates. Yishun remains fairly rural until it was developed into a satellite town in the early 1980s. It was developed into a public housing estate tied together by the pretty landscaping that can be found just about everywhere you turn. There is a great sense of space and most of theblocks of apartments were not squashed together claustrophobically. There are a few parks that Yishun residents can escape to for a quiet walk. The biggest one, Yhishun Park, is really serene on a weekday afternoon. Alternatively, one could take a break in Lower Seletar Reservoir park with some fishing or bird watching, or gaze across the water as the MRT trains pass on the elevated tracks. Of course, fun and games and food can be found in Yishun too, not least of all at the retail/entertainment hub comprising Northpoint, Yishun 10 and nearby Yishun Central. And there's no really problem getting to and around Yishun, with its comprehensive MRT and bus network.
